Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – iot squared, stc, and Red Sea Global have announced a strategic collaboration to develop an advanced Digital Twin ecosystem across The Red Sea destination. The proof of concept ecosystem will be showcased at LEAP 2026, marking a significant step toward creating smarter and more sustainable destinations.
Digital twins are transforming the way destinations are understood, operated, and continuously improved. By bringing together real-time data, AI, and digital representations of terrestrial and marine environments, the collaboration between iot squared, stc, and Red Sea Global is creating a more connected view of The Red Sea. This demonstrates how technology can help anticipate challenges, enable smarter decisions, and deliver safer, more efficient, and sustainable destinations while protecting their unique natural environments.
The ecosystem has the potential to connect physical destinations with live data and operational systems within a unified, realistic digital environment. It includes 10 km² dedicated to high-resolution, real-time monitoring. By integrating terrestrial and underwater environments, the ecosystem enables operations centres and relevant authorities to monitor events, anticipate changes, and respond more effectively.
It provides real-time monitoring of environmental and operational data, including wind conditions, sea conditions, air and water quality, the marine environment, and coral reefs. Using artificial intelligence technologies, the ecosystem will then analyse this data to generate actionable insights that support proactive decision-making and accelerate response times.
The ecosystem also includes operational interfaces covering the guest and visitor experience, mobility, environmental monitoring, and marine operations. In addition, it enables the simulation of potential scenarios including peak arrival periods, the movement of vehicles and visitors, and changing weather conditions to assess their impact and evaluate response options in advance.
Designed to integrate seamlessly with existing systems and data sources, the ecosystem is scalable toward a smart, fully integrated operations centre. This contributes to greater operational efficiency, enhanced safety and emergency response, an improved guest and visitor experience, and stronger protection of the natural and marine environment.
